Holiday Weekend Police Activity; July 1-4, 2016

Friday

7:17 am – Report of a man yelling and stomping his feet at Hoover Dam Park. Officer made contact with the man who said he was just releasing anger. No charges.

8:10 am – Hit-Skip non-injury crash on Manila Dr. from overnight. Parked car struck.

8:52 am – Report of protestors on the Dempsey Road bridge over I-270. Checked. No violation.

6:04 pm – Juvenile bitten by a Great Dane on Caracas Dr. Child transported to hospital by Medics. Animal control officer responded for the dog.

10:30 pm – Clerk at a business at Sunbury Plaza reported a suspicious male standing in the parking lot. Officers made contact. No violation.

10:43 pm - Male subject from the above incident confronted the clerk and screamed at him for calling the police. Officer returned and escorted the male subject from the property.

11:23 pm – Report of a suspicious male near the guardrail on the Smothers Rd. Causeway. Area checked, unable to locate.

Other Friday; 3 traffic complaints, 1 parking complaint, 1 juvenile complaint, 2 custody disputes, assist other agency (ODW at Hoover), 1 fireworks complaints.

Saturday

12:18 am – Two cars pulled into Cautela Dr., set of a firework and left. Area checked, not located.

1:05 am – Theft of beer from Speedway (Morse & SR3). Area checked, not located.

2:50 pm – Report of two male subjects arguing on Natalie Ct. Area checked, not located.

4:32 pm – Westerville Police made contact with a female subject, age 37, with Blendon arrest warrants. BTPD took custody and transported her to jail.

11:51 pm – Road rage on Paris Blvd. Both drivers flagged down a passing officer. Officer did not witness any violation. Neither driver wanted to file charges.

Other Saturday; 1 open car door found (accidental), 1 fireworks complaint.

Sunday

12:12 am - Injury crash; SR3 & I-270. At-fault driver charged with driving under suspension and fail to yield.

1:26 am – Assist other agency. OSHP pursuit and crash with fire. One occupant fled on foot. Driver and one passenger taken into custody. No BTPD units involved in the pursuit or crash.

11:48 am – Report of a raccoon hiding under a deck at a residence near Hoover Reservoir. Officers could not persuade the animal to leave. Resident advised to contact a varmint control company.

12:53 pm – Injury crash; I-270 & SR161.

1:35 pm – Report of a male subject dumpster-diving at Tim Horton’s on Sunbury Rd. Officer asked the man to leave at the manager’s request.

9:54 am – Report of 5-6 male subjects fighting at Speedway (Morse & SR3). All gone on arrival.

10:20 pm – Report of a suspicious male on the roof of a neighbor’s house in Huber Ridge. Direct TV working on a dish.

Other Sunday; 1 motorist assist (flat tire), 2 domestic disputes, 6 fireworks complaints, 1 assist other agency (back up MPPD), 1 open door found.

Monday (Independence Day)

12:45 am – BTPD Officers came upon 4 teenagers on Valley Quail South (“lost”) looking for their car which they said they had left at a party somewhere nearby. One juvenile in possession of alcohol. All 4 released to their parents.

2:14 am - Party from above incident located on Bitterroot Dr. Resident, age 18, hosting the party. Homeowner contacted by phone. Homeowner returned home. Party over. Under investigation.

7:39 am – Report of a male pedestrian at I-270 & SR161. Located and given a ride to Gahanna.

12:25 pm – Sunbury & Watt. BTPD traffic stop. Stolen license plate out of CPD. CPD responded to the scene and BTPD turned over the case to Columbus.

7:01 pm – Disturbance at a business on Sunbury Rd. Irate customer advised to leave at manager’s request.

8:31 pm – Report of juveniles smoking in the Sunbury Woods Commons. Area checked, not located.

9:28 pm – Disturbance at Speedway (Morse & SR3). Irate customer advised to leave at manager’s request.

Other Monday; 2 parking complaints, 1 medical issue, false alarm, 2 fireworks complaints.

Tuesday (early morning hours)

12:23 am – BTPD Observed a suspicious person/vehicle in Hoover Dam Park after-hours. Made contact and arrested the male driver, age 24, for an active arrest warrant out of Gahanna. GPD responded and took him into custody.

4:12 am – Robbery at Speedway (Morse & SR3). Male subject, age 34, apprehended nearby, charged with robbery and transported to jail.
