Weekend Police Activity; August 19-20-21, 2016


11:32 am – Central College & Lee; Utility pole leaning. Checked, it had already been secured.

12:55 pm – Non-injury crash; Sunbury Plaza.

1:50 pm – Manager at Speedway (SR3 & Dempsey) refused to sell beer to a customer without ID. Male subject made threats to shoot manager. Officers located the subject at Glengary Center. No firearm, no warrants, and Speedway did not want to file charges.

4:50 pm – Customer dispute at Speedway (SR3 & Dempsey), subject gone prior to police arrival.

3:59 pm – ID found at Sunbury Plaza. Impounded.

Other Friday; 1 arrest warrant served, 1 civil dispute.


1:35 am – Traffic violator stopped SR161 & Cleveland Ave. Female driver, age 30, charged with no operator’s license and possession of drug paraphernalia.

7:28 am – Report of a male driver asleep at the wheel at SR161 & Sunbury. Area checked, not located.

1:03 pm – Injury crash; I-270 & SR3.

3:09 pm – Report of a panhandler on Cleveland Ave. Area checked, not located.

3:54 pm – Male subject sitting at Sunbury Plaza. Stated he could not find the COTA stop. Officer transported him to the COTA bus stop.

9:28 pm – Report of 3 suspicious subjects at Hoover boat ramp. Walking their dog.

10:16 pm – Report of a suspicious male sitting in a car on LaPaz Place. Resident on his phone.

11:44 pm – Report of a fight involving 10-12 persons on Bitterroot Drive. One primary combatant gone on police arrival. Female subject (age 42) continued to try to fight others after police arrived and was arrested for disorderly conduct and transported to jail.

Other Saturday; 1 domestic dispute, 1 unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, 2 lockouts, 1 medical issue, 1 loud music.


1:16 am – Report of a suspicious vehicle spotlighting houses on Hollandia Court. Area checked, not located.

8:06 am – Non-injury crash; Cairo Road

11:05 am – Assist CPD in locating a hit-skip suspect and suspect vehicle from an earlier crash in Columbus. Vehicle located on Caracas Drive. Male driver, age 35, arrested and transported to jail.

4:34 pm – Juveniles destroying political signs in a yard on Brooklyn Road. Gone on arrival.

7:34 pm – Report of juveniles throwing objects off of the Dempsey Road Bridge over I-270. Area checked, not located.

7:56 pm – Report of items stolen from a vehicle at the Hoover Dam Park soaring field.

8:52 pm – Suspicious person knocking on the door on Woodvale Court. Area checked, not located.

10:48 pm – Male subject, age 35, struck his girlfriend and fired a shot from a handgun into a wall at a residence on Caracas Drive. Subject arrested for domestic violence, felonious assault, and possession of a firearm under a disability. Subject transported back to jail. Same subject from the hit-skip arrest (earlier same day) who had just been bailed out of jail.

Other Sunday; 1 medical issue, 1 traffic complaint, 1 false alarm, 1 civil issue.

Monday (early morning hours)

5:18 am – Purse found on Makassar Drive. Returned purse to owner on Makassar Drive. Found owner’s vehicle unlocked and console open. Cash missing from purse. Owner did not want to file a report.

6:22 am – Back on Caracas Drive, searching in daylight for further evidence out of previous night’s shooting.
